The Humans by Matt Haig (Paperback)

The Humans is Matt Haig's darkly funny novel about an alien sent to Earth to take the place of Cambridge mathematician Professor Andrew Martin, who has just solved a problem his visitor's masters think humanity should never have cracked. Food, clothes and family life all strike the newcomer as baffling. It suits readers who like warm, offbeat fiction with real feeling underneath.

• Told by an outsider who begins by finding the human race repellent
• Living inside Andrew's family, he slowly grows close to his wife, his teenage son and the family dog
• Music, poetry and small daily pleasures gradually change his view of us
• A story about love, family and what it means to be human, from the author of The Midnight Library
