Scaffolding by Lauren Elkin (Paperback)

Scaffolding is a novel by Lauren Elkin about two couples who live in the same Paris apartment almost half a century apart. In August 2019, Anna is left alone in the city when her partner David takes a job in London, and she is drawn into the life of Clémentine, a younger woman who moves into the building.

In 1972, Florence is finishing a psychology degree and thinking about having a child, while her husband Henry is unsure he wants to be a father, and each has a relationship outside the marriage. Their stories echo across the decades, the two pairs never knowing they shared the same rooms.
