A Study in Drowning by Ava Reid (Paperback)

A Study in Drowning is a dark academia fantasy for young adults by Ava Reid, and the first half of a duology. Effy Sayre has seen visions of the Fairy King since she was small, and her one comfort is Angharad, the much-loved epic by the late author Emrys Myrddin.

Winning a contest to redesign Myrddin's estate takes her to Hiraeth Manor, which she finds decaying and full of unfriendly people, among them Preston Héloury, a scholar determined to expose Myrddin as a fraud. As the rivals dig into the past, danger closes in from both the mortal world and the magical one.

• Gothic setting on a remote, crumbling estate
• Rivals-to-allies romance between two young scholars
• Folklore and fairy tales woven through the mystery
• Continued in A Theory of Dreaming
