I Found Myself: Last Dreams by Naguib Mahfouz, Translated by Hisham Matar (Paperback)

I Found Myself: Last Dreams gathers the short dream pieces that Naguib Mahfouz, the Egyptian Nobel laureate, wrote in the last years of his life. Hisham Matar translates them into English and introduces the book, recalling how he and his wife met Mahfouz in Cairo shortly after the attempt on the writer's life. It suits admirers of Mahfouz and readers who love brief, poetic prose.

• Short vignettes that fuse the logic of dreams with Mahfouz's storytelling craft
• Recurring figures include a love from his youth, family members, rulers of Egypt and many women
• Paired with dreamlike photographs by Diana Matar
• A slim volume to read slowly, a few dreams at a time
