The Fall of Númenor by J.R.R. Tolkien

The Fall of Númenor gathers into a single volume, for the first time, J.R.R. Tolkien's accounts of Middle-earth's Second Age, edited by Brian Sibley and illustrated with new watercolour and pencil artwork by Alan Lee. It draws on material first published by Christopher Tolkien in The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales and The History of Middle-earth.

The story centres on Númenor, the island kingdom raised from the sea as a gift to the Men who fought against Morgoth, and traces its growth in wealth and power, how the Rings of Power were made, Sauron's return and the kingdom's catastrophic downfall, ending with the alliance of Elves and Men against Sauron. It is a handsome companion for anyone who loves The Lord of the Rings.
