Nine Lies About Work by Marcus Buckingham

Nine Lies About Work: A Freethinking Leader's Guide to the Real World is a business book by Marcus Buckingham and Ashley Goodall that takes aim at widely accepted ideas about how organisations should run. They question beliefs such as the notion that culture drives success, that detailed strategic plans are essential, and that people crave feedback and need their weaknesses fixed.

Arguing that these assumptions breed frustration and a sense of unreality at work, the authors show how the best leaders focus instead on what is real: individual strengths, good information and the teams people actually work in. It suits managers, team leaders and HR professionals looking for a fresh view of work.
