Flat Stanley and the Firehouse by Lori Haskins Houran (I Can Read Level 2, Paperback)

Stanley Lambchop's Stop, Drop and Roll poster has won the Fire Safety Month contest, and the prize is a visit to the local firehouse. Climbing onto a real fire truck already feels like the highlight, until the day calls for a rescue that only a very flat boy can manage. Written by Lori Haskins Houran and based on the character created by Jeff Brown, it is aimed at children who read on their own but still like a little help.

• I Can Read Level 2 text with short sentences and simple vocabulary
• A gentle introduction to fire safety and the work firefighters do
• Stanley's flatness used in clever, funny ways during the rescue
• Colour pictures on each page to support early readers
